- Working with Paul Markun and Jeff Tawney,of AquaCal
A couple of TDT members enjoyed visiting with Paul Markun,of Tampa Technik,earlier this week,where they received some
good guidance on hoped for improvements to their robot. Visiting with Mr. Markun is always instructive and productive! His Gracious Professionalism is always in evidence,and he goes to great lengths to inspire students to incorporate clean elegance into their designs and work.
An added treat was meeting Jeff Tawney,Vice President of AquaCal,for whom Tampa Technik does some work,and which Team Duct Tape members had toured last spring. AquaCal is the largest manufacturer of heat pumps for pools and spas in the world. Mr. Tawney had been following our journey this season,and came over to see our robot and talk to team members. While there,he surprised us with a generous donation from AquaCal,to help us in our World Championship quest,and then spent the rest of our visit mentoring the team.
It was a wonderful afternoon,and we’re very happy to count AquaCal among our friends and supporters!
