Meet Team Duct Tape
I’m Aaron. I’m interested in robot design and construction, as well as team communication and management. My goals are to gain teamwork and problem solving skills, all while enjoying the fun of FTC competition. Something most people don’t know about me is that I am enrolled in public school, homeschooled and dual enrolled in a local community college. |
My name is BJ. I am a senior being homeschooled in Lutz, Florida. This is my second year in FTC. In school, chemistry, physics and history are the subjects that I’ve always been drawn toward. Favorite hobbies include swimming, wakeboarding, dirtbike riding and computer gaming. Being a part of Team Duct Tape has been a highlight of my last two years in high school. I enjoy the building process and especially the strategy of FTC. |

I’m Chris (I). Gears that turn harmoniously, sensors that perceive electronically, and wires that connect them have interested me since I was ten. I started out observing robots, took some classes, and joined a FIRST Lego League team. After I outgrew the Lego League team, I moved up to the next level and a joined the FIRST Tech Challenge team that was soon to be called Duct Tape. My particular interest is in programming, but I try to be involved in every aspect of the game I can. |

I’m Chris (II) I originally got interested in programming by playing with Visual Basic 6. I never really understood it, and I just knew if you wrote certain things, it did some interesting things. Then I joined an FLL team and got interested in robotics. I was mostly interested in the mechanical aspect of it and never really had much chance of messing with the programming. Eventually I aged out of FLL though, but I was still interested in robotics and wanted to try out FTC. Thanks to my mom who happily jumped into the task of creating an FTC team, we created Team Duct Tape. This time though, I was interested in trying out programming. In this way I began learning RobotC. With Chris II’s, help I began to understand more about programming. I soon found out that RobotC is similar to many other programming languages including java and C. So thanks to FTC I have discovered how programming works, and how much you can do with it. |

Hi my name is Chris K. but, my team members call me “3.0″, or ” The New One.” My Height is 6′2” and I am 15 years old. I joined Team Duck Tape late due to the fact I just moved down here from Georgia. I have been part of a FLL team, and a VEX team. My hobbies are Lego, Computer games, and Fencing. |

My name is Denn, and I’m one of the newer members of Team Duct Tape. I’m a senior at Gulf High School’s International Baccalaureate Programme in New Port Richey. I’m a regular 18-year-old high school student that just so happens to have a strong interest in all things tech. From computer programming to chemistry, anything science related will more than likely excite me. I love hanging out with friends, working on side projects (rockets and LEDs are my current interest), cooking (…yes, I absolutely LOVE to cook), volunteering in my free time, and now especially working with TDT. I’m a member of my school’s National, Math, English and Spanish Honor Societies as well as an active participant in the Astronomy Club and FBLA. Almost finished with high school, I’m looking forward to my future. I’m an Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University hopeful and I’m pretty set on majoring in aerospace engineering and joining the campus’ AFROTC detachment. My dream job would have to be a Flight Test Engineer for the United States Air Force, defending our nation and working on perfecting her cutting edge airborne weapons systems. |
My name is Ethan. I am a middle school student interested in golfing, fishing, and boating. One of my other favorite things to do is build and create using legos and erector sets. My interest in Team Duct Tape began when I learned about what they build and how they work together to creatively build robots that meet competitive challenges. As part of TDT, I want to work together to learn more about engineering and build competitive robots. My goal is to learn a lot about robotics and help build the best robot. |
Hi my name is Joel. I have been on Team Duct Tape for two years. I’m one of the stranger members on the team because I’m really not interested in building or programming I’m more interested in the business side of the team the interviews getting sponsors for the team and making the boards. My parents have owned restaurants for my entire life so I actually want to be an Executive Chef when I grow up so it’s very interesting to be on this team and not want to go into a carer in science. |
My name is Lee . I have always enjoyed making things fit together and the satisfaction of having a project be “complete”. My experiences with both computer programming and the Lego NXT piqued my interest in Team Duct Tape and competitive robotics. In my spare time I enjoy computer games, reading and eating. |
My name is Logan. I have been interested in robots ever since I can remember. I also enjoy learning how things work. Math and science are my favorite subjects in school. I am a new member to the team. My goal this year is to learn more about robotics and work with the team in programming and constructing the robot. This summer, I went to Japan and saw Asimo, an upright walking robot. I like to play the piano and cello in my free time. |
